Cambridge Christmas Course 2019 – Juniors (for ages 7-12)
|Venue||St Catharine's College|
Varied: Carols and Festive music from around the world
About the course
Come and sing with us at Christmas! This is a special course with special music!
The course includes whole-group singing, musical games and exercises to improve sight reading and small group vocal coaching with a singing coach.
Repertoire will include Gaudate (traditional) plus festive music by Peter Warlock, Thomas Ravenscroft, John Joubert, John Rutter plus some traditional favourites.
Our courses are for children and young adults who love to sing and are devised to improve their general musicianship, technical ability and confidence. We receive great feedback from families who say how much their children have enjoyed The Oxford & Cambridge Singing School’s courses.
The day will start at 9.30am and finish at 3.30pm. There will be an informal concert starting at 3.00 to which families are warmly invited to attend.
About the venue
St Catharine’s College was founded in 1473 and is situated in the historic city-centre of Cambridge, just south of King’s College and across the street from Corpus Christi College. The college is notable for its open court (rather than closed quadrangle) that faces towards Trumpington Street.
St Catharine’s boasts a fine musical tradition and the rites of the Church of England are enriched by the excellent contribution of the Choir and Organ Scholars. The three-manual organ is one of the finest instruments in Cambridge today and the Chapel is a popular venue for recitals and other performances.
