|Venue||St Catharine's College|
Macmillan: O radiant dawn
Walford Davies: O sons and daughters
About the course
This is a brand new course for 13-16 year olds.
It provides us the opportunity to explore music in four parts. Boys with either treble or changing voices are very welcome.
The course will start at 10 am and finish at 4pm each day.
Courses are structured so that each day will conclude with an informal concert, to which family are friends are very welcome. Courses are designed to provide an intensive, varied and inspiring two days of training in singing and choral music.
The course’s varied structure includes whole-group singing, music appreciation, music history and small group vocal coaching with renowned singing coach, Helen Groves.
A typical day will consist of a morning warm-up session followed by full choir practice; a mid-morning break (fruit juice and biscuits provided) and then smaller group sessions. After lunch, there will be further group sessions, focusing on music reading and theory before a final full choir practice and sing-through.
This course is dependent on achieving 30 participants. Should we not achieve this number, we reserve the right to cancel the course. Should this be the case, booking payments will be fully refundable.
About the venue
St Catharine’s College was founded in 1473 and is situated in the historic city-centre of Cambridge, just south of King’s College and across the street from Corpus Christi College. The college is notable for its open court (rather than closed quadrangle) that faces towards Trumpington Street.
St Catharine’s boasts a fine musical tradition and the rites of the Church of England are enriched by the excellent contribution of the Choir and Organ Scholars. The three-manual organ is one of the finest instruments in Cambridge today and the Chapel is a popular venue for recitals and other performances.
