The Seniors course is designed for 13-18 year olds who would like to extend their choral skills into SATB repertoire. We welcome all voice-parts, including boys with changing voices; and will always adapt our approach to suit the particular cohort. The repertoire features a mix of classical and more light-hearted a cappella pieces, and many of our participants have found it a useful grounding for choral scholarship applications. Some music-reading ability is desirable, as well as an ability to sing harmony parts.
About the venue
St Catharine’s College was founded in 1473 and is situated in the historic city-centre of Cambridge, just south of King’s College and across the street from Corpus Christi College. The college is notable for its open court (rather than closed quadrangle) that faces towards Trumpington Street.
St Catharine’s boasts a fine musical tradition and the rites of the Church of England are enriched by the excellent contribution of the Choir and Organ Scholars. The three-manual organ is one of the finest instruments in Cambridge today and the Chapel is a popular venue for recitals and other performances.
The Oxford and Cambridge Singing School Ltd is a not-for-profit organization that offers non-residential courses for children and young adults. The Oxford and Cambridge Singing School contracts with Cambridge Colleges for the use of their facilities; this event otherwise has no formal connection or association with the University of Cambridge or it’s colleges.
